Our Mission

Steve Acord began his practice in 1975 in San Mateo, CA working with Lincoln Financial Group. He was introduced to hospital administrators in several local facilities where he designed and implemented the retirement savings plans for these facilities. Once the plans were approved, he then began setting up the 403b retirement plans with the healthcare employees of these facilities. Steve knew there was more to a client’s needs than just a retirement account. He introduced the planning concepts that have become our team’s foundation.

Even in the beginning, our focus was not just on retirement planning, but also on all of the issues facing our clients – taxes, funding needs like college for our children and grandchildren, income protection using insurance, and funding clients’ dreams and goals. Steve recognized that our clients have a need for growth and protection of their savings and more importantly, guidance in how that lifetime savings will provide for their needs in retirement.

Rod Acord and Martin Fong joined Steve’s Lincoln Financial team in 1995. Following in the footsteps of their mentor, they took the same approach to planning their client’s retirements. They review the client’s needs based on a comprehensive financial plan in order to create practical solutions to help achieve their goals. Financial and emotional satisfaction has always been the goal. As a Financial Planning Practice, our mission is to help clients maintain independence, economic freedom and dignity for life.

In 2009, the Acord & Fong brand was created; its purpose was to differentiate and showcase our comprehensive planning services from other areas of our practice. In continuing the tradition that Steve started so many years ago, as our practice grows, we’ve expanded our team of planners and administrative staff who share our vision.
